Where clinic Facebook ads fail

Why healthcare Facebook
ads bring the wrong leads

  1. Lead forms collect too much.

Instant forms that ask about symptoms pull health data into a platform and an inbox that were not set up for it.

  2. Leads are called back days later.

A Facebook lead is a light commitment. Without a call back within hours, most will not answer.

  3. Targeting relies on options that no longer exist.

Health interest targeting was removed by Meta, so old playbooks no longer apply.

  4. Comments go unanswered.

Public questions under an ad, some of them clinical, sit there for days, and some need care to answer within GMC and data protection rules.

We only work in private healthcare: 40+ UK private clinics, consultants and medical groups, and nothing else. No e-commerce, no restaurants, no property. Every page we publish is written against the CAP code, the GMC and GDC advertising guidance and your CQC registration requirements, because the alternative is a website that costs you a complaint rather than a patient.

Our Way of Working

How we run Facebook
ads for clinics.

Facebook suits local awareness, events and simple enquiry forms for clinics with a fast call-back process. We keep forms short, route leads to your team at once and moderate comments. Fees are quoted after a call; see healthcare marketing pricing.

  • Weekly working sessions
  • Live dashboards on day one
  1. Local reach, broad audiences

We target by location and age where relevant, let Meta's delivery find responders, and judge audiences by booked appointments.

  2. Lead handling agreed up front

Before launch we agree who calls each lead, how fast and what they say, because the call back decides the cost per patient.

Targeting, creative and compliance

Facebook ads for clinics: targeting, creative and rules

Creative and lead forms

Facebook works for events, open evenings, consultations and seasonal check-ups. Lead forms ask for name and contact details only, with a link to your privacy notice; clinical questions wait for the call.

Compliance

Ads fall under the CAP Code. Prescription-only medicines cannot be advertised to the public (ASA advice on prescription-only medicines), and comments that contain health details are handled privately.

What Meta and the ASA say about healthcare Facebook ads

Healthcare Facebook ads are judged by Meta's Advertising Standards and by the CAP Code. These are the points we check before a clinic campaign goes live, read from the published pages in November 2026.

Health targeting options were removed

Meta announced that from 19 January 2022 it would remove Detailed Targeting options referencing health causes, such as cancer awareness, so audiences rely on location, age and broad targeting (Meta announcement).

Cosmetic ads are for adults

Meta's Health and Wellness standard says ads for cosmetic products, procedures or surgeries must target people aged 18 or over and must not use statements of inferiority about appearance (Meta Advertising Standards).

No cure claims or timeframe promises

The same standard bars claims to cure diseases such as diabetes or cancer, and bars promising specific outcomes within a set timeframe without qualifiers (Meta Advertising Standards). Treating or managing symptoms is not covered by the cure rule.

UK-targeted paid ads fall under the CAP Code

The ASA's scope page says paid-for social media marketing that targets people in the UK is covered by the CAP Code (ASA, Scope of the Code), and Botox cannot be advertised to the public under rule 12.12 (ASA).

For your campaigns, this means creative, audience and wording are reviewed against both rule sets before launch, and the landing page on your website should say the same thing as the ad. It lowers rejection risk but does not guarantee results. See also Instagram advertising and healthcare PPC.

Answers About Our Facebook Advertising Services

Healthcare Facebook advertising questions,
answered.

The things clinics ask us most about facebook advertising. Anything we haven't covered? Send us a note.

  1. How can Facebook advertising benefit my healthcare practice?

Facebook advertising helps your practice reach patients who may not actively search, yet still need your services. Our specialists create targeted campaigns based on location, behaviour, and relevant health interests. This allows your message to reach motivated audiences quickly. In addition, we monitor performance closely, ensuring cost-effective results that support stronger engagement and consistent patient enquiries across multiple clinical services.

  2. How soon can I expect to see results from healthcare Facebook ads?

Healthcare Facebook ads often deliver early visibility within a few days, especially when targeting is precise. Our professionals refine campaigns continually to improve engagement and conversions. Some treatments generate faster responses depending on urgency and local demand. You'll typically see clearer patterns within two to four weeks. We also track key metrics to provide transparent updates on meaningful performance improvements regularly.

  3. Do Facebook Ads work for medical clinics?

Yes, Facebook Ads work well for medical clinics because they reach patients based on interests, behaviour, and location. We craft messages that communicate your services clearly while building trust. The platform supports awareness, lead generation, and patient education. When managed correctly, Facebook advertising helps clinics increase enquiries and strengthen visibility for both general and specialised healthcare treatments effectively.

  4. How long does it take to see results from healthcare Facebook ads?

Most clinics notice early activity within the first week, although stronger performance usually develops over several weeks. We review data continually, adjusting audiences, creatives, and messaging to improve impact. Results depend on competition, treatment type, and local demand. The specialists we have track engagement trends to guide refinements. Consistent optimisation helps sustain enquiries and supports predictable outcomes throughout the campaign duration effectively.

  5. Can healthcare providers advertise on Facebook legally?

Yes, healthcare providers can advertise legally on Facebook when following the platform's medical advertising policies. We ensure all content meets guidelines, avoids restricted claims, and communicates responsibly. Besides, our agency prepares compliant messages that protect patient trust while promoting essential services. Following these standards helps clinics advertise safely, maintain credibility, and reach appropriate audiences without breaching regulatory expectations online.

  6. What does a Facebook ad agency for healthcare do?

A Facebook ad agency for healthcare plans and runs paid campaigns on Facebook and Instagram for clinics, consultants and hospital groups. That covers audience research, creative, lead forms, tracking and reporting. At Pulse Digital Health each ad and audience is checked against Meta's health advertising standards and the CAP Code before launch, and reporting focuses on enquiries and bookings.

  7. Can healthcare Facebook ads use before and after photos?

Meta's Health and Wellness standard allows general cosmetic procedures to show before and after transformation when the ad targets people aged 18 or over and avoids statements of inferiority about appearance. UK ads must also meet the CAP Code, so images must not mislead or imply guaranteed results. We review each image and claim before a campaign launches.
